How to save a replay
A replay is not saved automatically. When the match ends, choose Save Replay on the post-match screen before you leave. On PC the default key for this is Backspace, and you can change it in the controls settings. If you leave the match first, the replay is gone.
Where replays are saved on PC
Rocket League stores PC replays as small .replay files, usually about 1 to 2 MB each. Paste this path into the File Explorer address bar:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Rocket League\TAGame\DemosThe folder is the same for the Steam and Epic Games versions. If OneDrive syncs your Documents folder, look under OneDrive, Documents, My Games instead.
How to watch a replay
From the main menu, open Profile, then Match History, then Saved Replays, and choose Watch Replay. The replay viewer shows its controls on screen. You can pause, rewind, fast forward, slow the game down, jump to goals on the timeline, and switch between each player's view, ball cam, and a free camera that you fly around the field.
Replays are data, not video
A .replay file does not contain any video. It stores the match data: car and ball positions, inputs, boost, and events. The game rebuilds the match from that data every time you watch it. This is why the files are so small, why you can watch from any camera, and why an online "replay to MP4 converter" cannot work.
How to analyse replays
For stats, upload the file to ballchasing.com. It shows boost, positioning, and speed statistics and has a 3D viewer in the browser. The BakkesMod plugin for ballchasing can upload every match automatically. In game, watch your mistakes from your own camera first, then from free cam to see where your teammates and opponents were.
How to turn replays into video
To get an MP4, you play the replay in Rocket League and record the screen with OBS Studio, NVIDIA ShadowPlay, or the Windows Game Bar. Old replays that stop working
A major game update can make older replays fail to load for a while, and Psyonix has fixed this in later patches before. Keep a backup copy of the replays you care about, and record the important ones to video, because a video file keeps working after every update.
Console replays
You can save and watch replays on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch, but consoles do not give you the .replay file. To keep a console play, record it while the replay plays with the console's capture button or a capture card.
